If you want to visit Chopta, a place here is tips for you
By rail: Several trains shuttle between Delhi and Haridwar (Shatabdi Express, Mussoorie Express, Doon Express). From Haridwar, do the 4½-hour drive up to Rudraprayag by taxi or bus. There are a few places to stay here, like the Monal Resort (double room A/C Rs 1,500; suite Rs 2,000). Move on the next morning for Chopta, another four to five hours (approximately 75 km) away. Another route to Chopta is via Dehra Dun. Take the train to Dehra Dun and then a taxi or bus to Chopta via Tehri, Srinagar, Rudraprayag and Syalsaur.
By road: One can drive down from Delhi to Chopta in a day, but it is best to do the journey over two days. Your first halt should be at Kaudiyala (320 km from Delhi) via Rishikesh and Haridwar. Kaudiyala, a campsite on the banks of Ganga, offers comfortable accommodation -- from log huts to Swiss tents. From Kaudiyala, one can drive to Chopta via Deoprayag, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Syalsaur and Ukhimath.
Tip If you're not confident about getting to Chopta on your own, ask the nearest GMVN (Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam) office to organise the journey for you. GMVN arranges for its own guide to pick you up from the railway station at Haridwar and take you to Rudraprayag by taxi. At Rudraprayag, you spend the night at a guesthouse or hotel. Alternatively, stay at the GMVN log hut resort situated on the banks of Mandakini River at Syalsaur. The next morning, the same guide takes you through the final leg of your journey to Chopta by taxi.
